RED HOME CHINA is one of the three works realized during an artist’s residency program in China. Probably this work expressed at best my idea of residency.
I arrived in China without any idea about the context, the place, the facility, and the team. As per usual, the first step was to inquire around, to try and see the unseen, seeking for the unusual.
The result is an old hen-house, abandoned in the countrysides. I covered it completely with glazed earthenware tiles (I realized them modifying traditional temple parts) leaning on wasted bricks.
A shiny and brilliant red roof covered a rusty cage with three figures inside… in the same way China is trying to cover with a red flag all their state’s contradictions in precarious balance.
